Judge George W. Leach was elected to the bench in 2020 for a full term beginning January 2021. Since 2001, he has built a respected career representing adults, minors, and parents in criminal, juvenile, and family court matters, both as private and court-appointed counsel. This broad experience gives him deep insight into the challenges faced by families and individuals who appear before the court.
Judge Leach has also been a leader in promoting arts and community engagement within the justice system. He collaborated with judges and magistrates to introduce artwork in courtrooms and courthouses, helping create spaces that reflect the community they serve. As President Emeritus of the Ohio Art League, he has long encouraged and supported artistic talent across the state.
His innovation extends to juvenile justice reform. In partnership with the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, Judge Leach helped launch the Juvenile Auto Theft Diversion Program, which guides first-time, non-violent youth offenders toward community involvement and away from repeat offenses. The initiative has since served as a model for the county’s upcoming Felony Diversion Program.
Judge Leach also serves on the advisory board of Pathways Programs, which supports individuals re-entering society after incarceration by providing mental health and substance use recovery resources.
Through every role, Judge Leach remains dedicated to fairness, accountability, and opportunity, both in and beyond the courtroom.
